Great video that talks about the direction we, as educators need to move our students and institutions... imagination and inspiration. When you really think of it... imagination and inspiration (our mental processes) have nothing to do with technology and everything to do with who we are. So... maybe... knowledge in the classroom has nothing to do with technology... and everything to do with who we are and who/what we inspire our students into becoming. Strange to think you're reading this kind of writing from an IT guy... all the answers are not all in technology... go figure.

I really like what he has to say about nurturing the imagination of today's students. Today we have students that have access to tons of information at their fingertips, we have students who multi-task for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, students who need to be challenged. Teaching to standardized testing is not the way to challenge today's students, but the way to kill their imagination. In a state that lives and dies by these testing it is easy to see as we have so many underperforming schools. We need ot challenge them, nurture their imaginations and teach to their times and needs. I believe it all begins with challenging their creativity and promoting their imagination.
Technology is suppossed to enhance learning in the classroon. But educators are aprehensive about allowing it to "replace" them as teachers. If the student learners are exposed to it in their personal lives, why not int he classroom? They expect to see it, and are disappointed when it is not there.
I completely agree with what Paddy has to say. I feel like alot of educators, whether teacher or administrators have alot of hesitance. Many teachers need to become more comfortable with technology and start integrating them into the classroom. I think this is something that more education systems need to integrate in their trainings for their professionals.
I have to agree with his comment about criticism. Too many times, individuals take criticism too personal as attack, rather than accepting the constructive criticism and learning from it and move forward with positive outlook.
I also agree with his comment lifelong learning, as a former teacher, I learned from my students more than they will ever realize.
I agree with his comments regarding to constructive criticism. If you can accept constructive criticism as a student or as professional in the work place it will only make you a better person. However, sometimes people cannot accept critism. This may be due to how it is relayed to a person, or because like Lu mentioned they make take it personal.
